Edition 2 is now released to cover ADS-B effect on Search and Rescue, buoyancy, deep water landings, CAP-NRAT and ring of fire threat. Read the details of the very recent successful ditching on the way to Australia.
In the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, and the 90's we trained ditching. Today the aircraft are so much safer that the RISK FACTOR is tiny. The FAA today does not believe the training is required. History contains many examples of government not connecting the dots. Or allowing the dots to disintegrate. The 737MAX story is a great example.
What if hail or ash choke out the engines? There is one immediate action and you have never been trained on it. Sound impossible? I can prove it.
This book will help you chair fly the 5 to 30 minutes of the drift down to the landing. Do you have a knowledge of how SARSAT works? Do you have knowledge of touchdown techniques of how to deal with swells, rough sea state chop, or glassy water? Have you trained raft procedures?
The book has simulator scenarios to chair fly, and you do not need re-current training. One good walk thru and you will remember the actions for life.
